With a mid-range amount of fluorocarbon the LA line of Star waxes works well for fresh settled snow or transformed snow with low to medium relative air humidity. It has a wide enough range of use that it even works well in dry snow conditions.
If conditions change quickly the LA line works as a solid base layer under a final coat with a 100% fluorocarbon wax to deal with increased moisture or dirty conditions to keep you sliding with maximum glide. The colder waxes deal effectively with abrasive snow, extending the life of your wax.
LF stands for Low Fluorocarbon. These are fluorinated hydrocarbon waxes having a lower percentage of fluoro additive. They are often used as training waxes. Can also be used as racing waxes with Cera F as a final layer, or alone as a race wax mostly at lower temperatures.
The temperature ranges and wax colors of the LF waxes coincide with the HF category, however they are distinguished from the HF waxes by the 60 gram bar size. The LF waxes can be distinguished from the CH waxes by a slightly more transparent look.
